The Opportunity
CZ Biohub SF is looking for an Accounting Analyst to support the finance function. The Analyst will help to ensure that the organization's finances are managed effectively and efficiently. You will work with R&D Program managers to develop the organization's budget, monitor organizational spending, and forecast future financial needs. The Analyst will also play an active role in supporting the financial close process, including preparing various expense accruals, journal entries and account reconciliations.
The position will be based in San Francisco, CA either on a hybrid or on-site basis.
You will
- Obtain necessary information for the budget and forecast and provide insight on funding requests
- Prepare cost-benefit analyses and/or provide input as needed
- Handle sensitive financial information, adhere to strict ethical standards, and maintain the confidentiality and integrity of data
- Review budgets and forecasts for completeness and accuracy
- Field requests for budget allocations or project tracking and recommend course of action. Facilitate budget transfer or coordinate set up of new project codes if needed.
- Prepare monthly budget tracking reports for projects and headcount including commentary on variances
- Monitor organization spending and identify areas where costs can be reduced, or efficiency can be improved
- Review Purchase Requisitions when submitted for proper approvals and within budget, and appropriate coding for accounts, cost centers and projects
- Prepare expense accruals, other assigned journal entries and account reconciliations for the monthly financial close
- Review monthly financials and management reports to ensure expenses are charged to the appropriate cost centers
- Compile adjustments to convert monthly actual financials to format required for parent company reporting.
- Prepare billings to third parties for cost reimbursement. Monitor collections to ensure all invoices are paid, following up with third parties if needed.
- Identify and recommend new and/or improved business processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
You have
Essential –
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance
- 5 years of accounting experience
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
- Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including accruals, prepaids, capitalization of fixed assets and self-constructed assets
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
- Multi-task and prioritize duties to meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within the organization and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent Excel skills
Nice to have -
- NetSuite, Adaptive and Coupa experience
- Biotech/pharmaceutical industry or research organization background
- Non-profit or multi-entity organization experience
