Accountant - Seoul

As an Accountant, you will play an important role in providing day-to-day first and second-level financial support to the business. You will have the opportunity to work and develop experience across both financial and commercial/management accounting whilst supporting the growth of the Seoul office.

You will be a strong team player, client-service driven, able to professionally communicate and follow up with lawyers and business services team members to deliver professional and timely support.

Our Global Finance team is led by the Firm's CFO, Steve Wrede, and is made up of approximately 280 team members around the world. To support the firm’s profitable growth, our core functions include billing and collecting Firm invoices, statutory accounting for the Firm and for individual offices, creating and distributing management reports, processing payments to vendors or reimbursements to employees. Together, we work seamlessly across our network of offices and countries where we operate. Our team’s remit includes partner compensation and the maintenance of partner equity accounts; strategic procurement of vendor services; global tax strategies; inventory management, and finally analysis of the profitability of clients, matters and groups of timekeeper. We work with partners and with other business services groups to establish hourly billing rates as well as client-specific fee arrangements. Our Treasury team is responsible for global cash management, foreign currencies and hedging.

• Act as the first point of contact for the Seoul office for all finance related matters
• Responsible for month end closing and review the financial accounts to ensure all expenses are properly recorded.
• Responsible for payroll preparation, includling liaise with payroll provider
• Maintaining cashflow, handling payment and managing corporate card
• Maintaining local statutory accounts for tax filing purposes
• Assisting in all tax matters including handling all tax payments, annual and monthly tax filings, and queries
• Assisting in the preparation of annual budgeting and forecasting
• Assisting in analysis of financial results, including prepreation of reports and presentations
• Ad-hoc projects, queries, and analysis

• At least 6 years experience in financial accounting role in service industry
• Law firm experience will be an advantage
• Strong understanding of Korean accounting standard (Korean GAAP)
• Experience in tax filings including VAT, individual income tax withholding and corporate income tax is essential
• Experience in payroll preparation is essential
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel
• Must be self-motivated, organised, accurate, with strong attention to detail and be able to work independently
• Flexible and enthusiastic with the ability to manage own workload, priorities, and deadlines
