About the role
Description
Responsible for journal entries, account reconciliations, expense/budget analysis schedules, monthly closing responsibilities including bank reconciliations, tracking of fixed assets, tracking of supplier banks/commitment funds, tracking of incentives, analyzing asset, liability, equity accounts, and any other related accounting/bookkeeping projects assigned.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for preparing various journal entries and timely and accurate account reconciliations
- Analyzing various accounts to ensure activity has been accurately recorded and post any required corrections within the proper period (includes analyzing month-end activity for discrepancies, coding errors and other issues that should be researched, resolved, or brought to management’s attention).
- Reviewing and posting daily accounts receivable to general ledger.
- Support daily Cash Management activities (bank reconciliations, clear checks in system, maintain outstanding check listing, etc.)
- Maintain weekly payroll journal entry
- Timely and accurate filing of Anheuser-Busch monthly promotional credit reimbursements
- Accurate and timely filing of monthly Massachusetts reports including Bottle Bill, Excise Tax, Sales tax returns, Fuel Storage reporting, etc.
- Tracking Capital Expenditures and maintain and reconcile fixed assets accounts
- Submitting the annual filing for Wholesaler’s license, transportation licenses, storage license and salesman licenses.
- Accurate and timely filing of Quarterly Massachusetts reports (IFTA, etc,)
- Providing support for audits (financial, tax, insurance, etc.)
- Other ad hoc projects as needed
- A/P Support (act as a back-up for general payables and beer inventory payables)
- Back-up for Accounting Manager
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proficient in financial accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through skills
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to analyze figures
Education/Training/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 3 years of experience in accounting
Physical Demands and Environment:
- Work performed requires limited physical exertion, may be required to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds
- Work is performed in a normal office sitting with intermittent standing or sitting as determined by the incumbent
- Work requires considerable mental concentration to effectively execute complex tasks requiring periods of focused mental and visual concentration
- Works in a normal office environment
- Minimal potential for injury in the performance of duties
