Position Overview
Under direction, independently performs professional accounting procedures involving the maintenance of a support system for general administrative accounts for the Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS). Audits and processes payments. Monitors and processes transactions using both federal and state funds using the Department’s accounting system and legacy systems; performs monthly reconciliations of Department accounting reports; prepares various financial tracking reports and statements; reviews and enters telecommunications payments, travel vouchers, contractual payments, and other payment types processed by the Division and related complex financial reports and statements. Audits travel vouchers, reviews for compliance applicable regulations. Provides training and technical assistance to division staff.
Essential Functions

Performs professional accounting procedures involving the maintenance of a support system for general administrative and program accounts for the Division.

Maintains control of the travel reimbursement process.

Ensures expenditures are coded correctly, answers correspondence and handles inquiries pertaining to policies, rules and regulations, billing procedures, payments, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.

Assists in reconciling receipts and expenditures with other known collateral sources to ensure accuracy and to resolve discrepancies.

Develops and runs spreadsheet updates, voucher processing and grant tracking

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, with courses in business administration and accounting.

Requires two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.
Work Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5pm; 1 hour unpaid lunch.
