The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for using leadership skills to effectively direct and manage the hospital functions on a designated shift. Acts on behalf of Administration while conferring with the nursing staff, physicians and other department personnel, as necessary, to meet the overall needs of patients. Has access to and knowledge of those areas of the Hospital that impact patient care but are not operational on a 24 hour a day basis. Informs the hospital administrator on call of any situation that may require attention. Manages staffing to provide continuity of professional nursing care.
Experience: Two years of hospital Critical Care or Emergency Room experience is preferred but not required. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, to sit for extended periods, to visually interpret telephone and computer terminals, to move between work areas; to handle stress of high telephone call volume and computer data entry, to work independently and alone. Must have initiative, good judgment, resilience, patience, discretion, perseverance and enthusiasm.
Additional Job Description
Education: Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
License/Certification: Current South Carolina Nursing license or Compact State from the State Board of Nursing. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) with American Heart Association (AHA), and NIHSS stroke scale with American Heart Association (AHA)
