SCRD Faculty Associate Pool Therapeutic Recreation AY25-26

Description

The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associate positions for the 2025 – 2026 academic year. Faculty Associates are part-time, adjunct faculty who are hired on a one-semester, renewable contract to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester, either in-person or online.

Faculty Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

For this position, we seek to attract a pool of qualified people who are available to teach in-person and/or online courses on ASU’s campus in Downtown Phoenix or Tempe, and  who have the skills and expertise to teach one or more of the following courses: Foundations of Recreational Therapy, Recreational Therapy with Children & Youth and Families, Intervention Techniques in Recreational Therapy, Assessment & Documentation in Recreational Therapy, Leadership & Professional Development in Recreation Therapy, Program Design and Administration in Recreational Therapy, Inclusive Community Development, Recreational Therapy Lab, Inclusive Sports, Advocacy in Therapeutic Recreation, and Therapeutic Recreation and Community Health. The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) is one of the four schools in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions, a vibrant community of scholars actively committed to excellence in education and innovative responses to collective problems. Job Responsibilities

The role requires someone who can deliver in-person (and/or online) lectures, discussions, and content, contribute to the creation of assignments and exams, evaluate and grade student work, manage Canvas learning management platform and hold office hours to assist students. Courses are developed and have been taught multiple times with a well-defined syllabus outlining learning outcomes, content, readings, and assignments. Local applicants may apply to teach either online or in-person courses. Worldwide applicants may apply to teach online courses.
