Position Overview
Spend your days making a difference, not just working for a living. We do that by creating Security, Risk management, Compliance, and audit software that uncovers fraud, waste, environmental risk, and abuse in their organizations. Our collaborative R&D teams use Serverless AWS technologies to build our SaaS platform and tackle strategic business challenges, creating highly impactful solutions for today and for our future to support Modern Governance.
The ideal candidate will have proven ability to apply effective analysis, design, programming, and testing skills to produce and maintain scaled SaaS software solutions. They will be driven, resourceful and not feel intimidated by significant technical challenges. The successful candidate will work as part of an established team who are used to working together to achieve excellent results. Our ideal candidate will be someone who is motivated, pro-active and takes pride in his or her code.
They will want to take ownership of the features they are working on, proactively drive improvements in software design and development practices, and might work with more junior members of the team to help develop their skills and optimize the performance of the team over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, review, and test assigned features in alignment with agile methodologies.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and create design artifacts for assigned tasks.
- Implement unit tests and support quality assurance efforts, including automation and regression testing.
- Assist in shaping the product's architecture by contributing to component design and prototyping, primarily for back-end features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and product management, to ensure smooth software delivery.
- Document work following company standards, ensuring clarity for future reference.
- Manage personal workflow effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality code.
- Take ownership of Epics and user stories, occasionally leading technical initiatives.
- Support platform-level improvements by contributing to architectural discussions and implementation efforts.
- Work independently while knowing when to seek guidance or delegate tasks.
- Participate in team retrospectives, actively suggesting and implementing process improvements.
Required Experience/Skills
- 2-5 years of experience in a software development role, preferably in a commercial setting.
- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and experience in API and web development.
- Understanding of Microservices architecture and RESTful services.
- Commitment to writing well-tested, maintainable, and documented code.
- Strong communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Git/GitHub and branching models like GitFlow.
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
- Experience with SQL and databases.
- Familiarity with security best practices in DevOps environments <
