A Day in the Life
Join Medtronic’s Surgical Operating Unit as a Sr PD PMO Specialist in our Robotic Surgical Technologies (RST) Released Product Management (RPM) Project Management Office (PMO). In this critical role, you’ll support program and project management activities for released surgical products, collaborating across departments such as R&D, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing. You’ll help drive effective execution of sustaining engineering and quality improvement projects, ensuring teams are well-coordinated, focused on priorities, and committed to delivering results that put patients first.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support cross-functional teams in planning, executing, and monitoring projects for released surgical products.
- Support quality initiatives, including the coordination and execution of CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) projects, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Program/Project Managers to maintain schedules, dashboards, and resource plans.
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and budgets; ensure adherence to established processes and regulatory standards.
- Facilitate meetings, document decisions, and follow up on action items to closure.
- Help identify and mitigate risks, balancing time, schedule, cost, and quality.
- Assist with project financial tracking, including labor resource management.
- Prepare and deliver regular status reports to leadership and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO and product sustaining processes.
- Foster professional growth and cross-functional collaboration through onsite engagement.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in project or program management, preferably in a regulated industry (medical device, automotive, aerospace, etc.) Or: Master's degree and 2 years of listed experience Or; PhD and 0 years of experience.
- Experience supporting or managing commercial product delivery projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of project management or commercial product delivery experience.
- PMP, CSM, or similar project management certification.
- Experience working under FDA or other regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting quality initiatives, including CAPA projects.
- Familiarity with advanced scheduling and resource management tools (Microsoft Project Prochain/Fusion, Resource First/PDWare, Jira, etc.).
- Familiarity with agile project management and/or SAFe Agile Project Management
- Experience supporting teams in the development or commercialization of complex medical devices (e.g., staplers, sutures, clip appliers).
- Experience working with global teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

- Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies.
- Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
- Manages the development and implementation process of a company's products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products and processes.
- Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
- Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.
- Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
- Gathers requirements, works on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project's key stakeholders.
