As part of a passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be a crucial member of the Core Avionics organization within the Lunar Permanence business unit. You will provide technical leadership for the development, delivery, and sustainment of avionics products for Lunar Vehicles, including flight computers, I/O units, embedded controllers, and associated electrical hardware.
This is a hands-on product engineering role with broad technical ownership. You will lead products through the full lifecycle—from concept, product architecture, and requirements development through design, build, integration, verification, qualification, production, and sustainment. You will actively make and influence technical design decisions, work directly with manufacturers and suppliers, and lead bench-level testing, troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and technical risk reduction.
You will serve as a key technical leader across electrical hardware, mechanical packaging, embedded software, FPGA, controls, systems engineering, manufacturing, test, supply chain, and mission assurance. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration by enabling affordable, safe, and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end development and technical delivery of complex avionics hardware products, establishing the product architecture, requirements, interfaces, development strategy, verification approach, and path to production.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through design, build, integration, verification, qualification, production, and sustainment; make sound technical tradeoffs balancing performance, reliability, safety, cost, schedule, and manufacturability.
- Lead hardware test and anomaly-resolution efforts, including bench troubleshooting with electronic test equipment, root-cause analysis, corrective-action development, risk assessment, and verification of implemented solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical integrator across electrical hardware, mechanical enclosures and packaging, embedded software, FPGA, controls, systems, manufacturing, suppliers, test, and mission assurance organizations.
- Mentor engineers, lead technical reviews, improve engineering methods and tools, and drive product and process improvements that strengthen quality, development efficiency, and mission success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in the design, development, build, integration, test, or verification of avionics, electronic hardware, embedded systems, or comparable high-reliability hardware products.
- Demonstrated experience independently owning complex hardware products through the full development lifecycle, including architecture, requirements, design, integration, verification, qualification, production, and sustaining engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more relevant technical areas, such as flight computers, embedded controllers, I/O hardware, analog or mixed-signal electronics, digital electronics, power electronics, FPGA-based systems, electronic packaging, or controls interfaces.
- Proven ability to lead complex hardware troubleshooting and root-cause investigations, provide technical direction across disciplines, and communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, and decisions to program and leadership stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience developing avionics or other safety-cr
