Role:

BCW’s SABRE Award-Winning Corporate Affairs practice is seeking to hire a Senior Vice President to join the New York Corporate Affairs Earned Media team. The SVP will develop strategic earned media client programs, provide senior-level client counsel, deepen relationships with journalists, develop supporting media materials including pitches, and demonstrate success in securing meaningful coverage for clients.

The ideal candidate will have both large agency experience, leading successful earned media campaigns, as well as a journalism background. We’re looking for someone who knows first-hand how reporters, producers and editors work and can leverage that knowledge into success for our clients. With a pulse on the ever-expanding media landscape, the candidate should know how to craft a story that a reporter will want to tell, but which also drives our clients’ business objectives forward.

This is an opportunity to join a robust, growing, collaborative, and creative earned media team unlike any other in our industry. We take a team approach to secure placements, mitigate crises and amplify our clients’ stories to a diverse set of audiences.

The Work:

  • Counsel senior and C-Suite clients on proactive and reactive media strategies
  • Engage and leverage relationships with business, national, consumer and trade media inclusive of broadcast, print, digital and social
  • Develop and manage earned media strategies, opportunities and executions for multiple clients
  • Develop and write media pitches and land stories in top tier print, broadcast, cable, digital and trade outlets
  • Collaborate with earned media team members on a daily basis
  • Serve as an active member of the media training team
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of the media landscape, trends and key reporters
  • Collaborate/coordinate with paid, digital and influencer team members across multiple agency practices and locations
  • Participate and lead in BCW earned media thought leadership and internal professional development programs

Experience that contributes to your Success:

  • Earned media expert with a minimum of 15 years of experience, both as a journalist and in an PR agency environment
  • Experience leading earned media for complex, large-scale accounts with team members in multiple locations
  • Track record of multi-pronged earned media strategy development and execution designed to achieve public awareness and influence
  • Understanding how earn media strategies integrate across other client workstreams including paid, owned, social, issues management, and creative to tell our clients’ stories
  • Focused and inclusive manager of people and teams
  • Excellent storyteller with a rich rolodex of media contacts with top-tier print, broadcast and digital reporters and producers
  • Proven success in landing top tier and trade coverage for clients
  • Passion, sense of urgency and attention to detail on large accounts with significant and constant moving parts
  • Excellent communication (oral and written)
  • Strong leadership qualities and client-facing skills
