Job Description Summary:

Student anatomy lab assistants support the summer Human Anatomy course in KUMC’s School of Health Professions (SHP) that is taken by first year DPT students, MSAT students, and NA students. These lab assistants coordinate multiple activities and contribute to a safe, organized, and student-centered learning environment.

Job Duties

• Inform the course instructor(s) of any equipment or maintenance issues or housekeeping needs.

• Care for the cadavers, equipment for dissection and proper storage, and technology necessary for lab recordings.

• Provide audio-visual support / technology support and assist with learning activities under faculty direction.

• Assist with posting materials that are created by the course instructor(s) on Blackboard.

• Assist faculty with end of semester lab cleanup with delegated tasks.

Work Environment

• This position is fully on-campus due to the need to be present during on-campus classroom and learning activities. Each lab assistant will work up to 25 hours / week for the 8 weeklong course.

Required Qualifications

Education: Enrollment as a full-time student at KUMC.

This student position requires enrollment for a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position.  The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.

Work Experience:

• Experience in gross anatomy.

• Experience with the principles of human anatomy.

• Experience providing guidance to students.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Enrollment as a student in 2nd year of DPT program or 1st year of SOM.

Work Experience:

• Prior experience teaching or assisting with courses in a health profession education program.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
