About the role
Under minimal supervision, responsible for leading the administrative support for the department's academic mission to ensure compliance with standards set by internal and external regulating bodies. Facilitates and coordinates various academic activities, maintains records, databases, provides curriculum information, manages the application process and maintains documentation for continued accreditation.
- Assists with the implementation of outreach programs to include science demonstration labs and leadership workshops.
- Expanding educational contact lists
- Participates in TACRAO (Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) fairs across Texas.
- Serves as educational liaison for local schools and universities.
- Responsible for setting up labs and creatively delivering content as able.
- Oversees the day-to-day administrative support operations of an academic department
- Maintains records, student files, forms, databases, and all student related materials in accordance with Institutional policies and accreditation guidelines
- Oversees and coordinates student registration, class schedules, teaching materials, grade reporting, exam scheduling, and learning outcome evaluations of all students
- Maintains program tracking and compliance, as well as annual submission for re-accreditation
- Creates and distributes surveys for each course each semester and analyzes results
- Updates yearly the relevant course and catalog information and Student Handbook
- Assists with scheduling, administration, and analyzing of students information from application to post graduation
- Assists with the coordination of student recruitment, interviews for admissions, orientation, and graduation
- Purchases lab supplies and large lab equipment, travel, and reimbursements
- Organizes events and banquets
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Demonstrated business acumen in contracting and funding sources.
- Ability to evaluate and plan major events for the department with efficiency while staying within budget constraints.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to serve as a resource to faculty, staff and students.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment and capable of self-direction with long periods of indirect supervision.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field is required.
- Will accept candidates with an Associate's degree with supplemental experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) years experience is required; may require specific experience in curriculum development and STEM program implementation.
- Six (6) years of experience required with an Associate's.
PREFERRED:
- Experience working with students from high school to graduate-level.
