We are seeking a professional like you to improve maintenance and reliability at the Polyol Plant in Geismar, LA. Polyols are used to create the many foams and plastics we use in our daily lives.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing reliability support to the plant by implementing and driving reliability programs and providing guidance and detail for repair, maintenance and inspection activities. You will use tools such as Reliability Centered Maintenance, Risk Based Inspections, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Criticality Analysis, PM Optimization and other reliability-based maintenance engineering principles and practices.
As a Staff Reliability Engineer, you create chemistry by...
- Applying appropriate reliability tools to drive improvements, optimizing costs, and improving Asset Effectiveness (i.e. Bad Actor Program, FMEA, RBI, RBM, RCM/Criticality Analysis, RCFA, etc.)
- Designing maintenance strategies, procedures, inspection plans, preventive and predictive maintenance activities
- Developing/implementing corrective actions to address root causes
- Improving reliability of rotating equipment
- Supporting site programs for Mechanical Integrity, such as for Pressure Vessels, Tanks, Heat Exchangers and Piping Inspections, besides Relief Devices and Flame Arrestors.
- Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for proactive identification and resolution of reliability issues, including inspection reports.
- Coordinating with maintenance, production, and storeroom personnel to establish and maintain the proper stocking levels of parts and equipment required to provide maximum equipment uptime at the lowest possible costs.
- Supporting capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the specification, design, and construction of capital projects in accordance with plant design requirements, as well as regulatory and BASF standards, utilizing your general understanding of industrial maintenance procedures, including work planning, preventive maintenance, and repair parts acquisition.
- Ensuring that all reliability-related activities are compliant with the company Responsible Care Management System and all statutory regulations, and that relevant asset management systems, procedures, and standards are followed to maintain compliance at all times.
If you...
- Have a Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering (or similar).
- Possess work experience in maintenance, reliability, or production engineer role in an industrial plant environment.
- Have experience with formal reliability programs such as TPM, RCM, RCFA and experience developing, reviewing, and implementing strategic preventive and predictive maintenance programs and procedures. (preferred)
- Have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Have strong troubleshooting and diagnosis capability within operations and maintenance teams.
- Understand maintenance and reliability work processes for pumps, agitators, piping systems, pressure vessels (including heat exchangers), storage tanks, and relief devices.
- Have ability to develop and maintain metrics to measure reliability and efficiency of equipment, also applying digital tools (e.g. Power BI).
- Possess computer skills to include CMMS software (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office suite of products
