Starting Gate Driver

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

Consistently demonstrates superior customer serviceskills to external and internal guests by displaying Spotlight on Successbehaviors and FOCUS skills. Maintains upbeat, positive attitude, friendly andhelpful demeanor, positive energy and enthusiasm from one interaction to thenext.   Utilizes smiles and frequent eyecontact and friendly tone of voice to project warmth and friendliness.  Creates an atmosphere of luck and celebratescustomer wins.  Is ready to serve andwell informed of daily facility hours of operation, promotional programs andany other relevant valuable guest information; builds relationships by greetingguests with a warm, friendly verbal greeting. Anticipates needs of the guest and provides fast, flawless service.Executes all service programs to assure prioritization of service to very bestguests.  Checks for satisfaction andproperly uses the Service Recovery process to resolve problems when theyexist.  Promotes Total Rewards programsand Total Rewards registration and membership. Provides a warm farewell andthanks guests for visiting.  PromotesHarrah’s and always projects Harrah’s in a positive light to guests.

 

Drives the starting gate vehicle under the directionof the Starter, adhering to all of the Starter’s instructions anddirections.  Operates the vehicle in amanner consistent with the safe conduct of a race, the safety of the raceparticipants, and the safety of the patrons.. Reports immediately to Starter any mechanical or operationalmalfunctions of starting gate vehicle. Performs other duties as assigned. Enforces company policy and PA State Harness Commission rules andregulations.  Promotes outstandingcustomer and horsemen relations.

 

Qualifications:

Requirements:

Minimumthree years (harness) experience as Starter or starting  gate driver at regular or recognized fairmeeting.  Valid PA Harness Commissionlicense or ability to receive license. If required, valid PA Gaming license orability to receive license pending regulatory development.   Solid knowledge of on-track racing protocoland procedures.  Prior hands-onexperience as horseman or racing department official preferred.

 

Is able to work in smokefilled environment, and is able to sit and stand for prolonged periods oftime. 

 

Must be able to obtain a Harnesslicense through the state of Pennsylvania .
