BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P HB FACILITIES OPERATIONS Department of the P FACILITIES & SECURITY Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)

 

JOB FUNCTION:

Under direct and indirect supervision, performs a variety of facilities and grounds maintenance and repair work.  Maintains grounds, landscaped areas, substation yards, base yards, parking areas, and buildings. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs landscape maintenance which includes installation of irrigation / watering systems.
• Operates various landscape maintenance tools such as mower, blower, chipper, line trimmers, trencher, herbicide power sprayer, etc.
• Applies and directs others in the application of insecticides and herbicides.
• Performs minor carpentry and construction work using various hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, saws, jack hammers, mud-gun, etc.
• Performs non-licensed plumbing functions which include repairs/replaces toilet(s), sink fixture(s), garbage disposal(s), etc.
• Restores facilities and equipment from graffiti and vandalism using an airless paint sprayer, power washer, including installation and repair of fences, concrete and asphalt surfaces.
• Purchases/requisitions materials required to perform building and grounds maintenance work.
• Operates forklift and manlift.
• Drives and is responsible for the vehicle and all assigned tools and equipment, including routine maintenance on the entire truck.
• Performs custodial duties as required.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs similar and incidental work as required.
• Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to lift and carry equipment and materials / supplies weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to qualify to operate a forklift.
• Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license.  Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
• Must be able to obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• Must pass Job Sample Test.
• Must pass Written Job Knowledge Test to qualify for the Thereafter Rate.

 

Other Requirements:

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
