GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Senior Information Security Software Engineer (ISE) joins a mature, Agile, and cross functional software squad which designs and builds custom cyber security solutions. Using a cloud first approach the Threat Engineering squad develops solutions for our incident response and threat intelligence functions. Strong cooperation between these analysts and engineers ensures our squad has the domain expertise and insight needed to solve some of the most challenging cyber security threats facing Fifth Third Bank.
What you will be doing:
As a Senior Information Security Software Engineer, you will develop, test, deploy, and maintain the custom code and integrations needed to achieve our goals. You will employ your experience with the software craft to generate code using a modern API-driven web application stack for use by cyber analysts to investigate, track, and defeat cyber criminals. As a Senior at the Bank, you collaborate with peers and leaders assisting with the design of features.
Additionally:
Program solutions to challenges in detection, response, and intel-related applications and platforms.
Work with Product Owner, Engineering Leader, users, and leaders of our products to create valuable features.
Practice SOLID application design.
Prepare and run automated tests.
Participate in Agile ceremonies such as story writing, estimation, sprint planning, retrospective, and standups.
Create changes to new and existing code through integrated Peer Review (PR) process.
Identify and propose new integrations, and solutions that increase the security of our applications and business.
Establish working relationship with Threat Interdiction (detection, response, intel, red team).
Leverage team quality practices to ensure long term sustainability and maintainability.

What you should have:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information systems or comparable with 4-8+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with API driven middleware and modern web frameworks (Vue.js is preferred, Angular, React, FastAPI, etc. would be useful.)
Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including, but not limited to: Python, JavaScript, Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C or Go.
Ability to write readable and complete test code at unit through integration levels.
AWS experience with modern serverless and hybrid patterns
Passion for finding creative and innovative ways to detect and deter cybercriminals.
Knowledge of tools commonly used for Information Security is bonus, such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, EDR, SIEM, SOAR, XDR, etc.
A love of modern methodologies such as test driven development, code review, design documentation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
