SUMMARY:
The Team Lead will serve as the Guinea-based project lead for USIP’s Political Transitions project. In coordination with the DC-based program team and under the supervision of the Political Transitions Program Manager, the Team Lead will co-lead the implementation of in-country activities, facilitate the establishment and operationalization of a standing consultative mechanism (SCM) in Guinea, liaise with stakeholders, and contribute to reporting to the IAA partner.
This is a full-time 6-month term position through November 30, 2024. This is a Personal Services Contractor position for a host-country (Guinean Foreign National) contractor. The contract can be renewed pending good performance, funding, and business needs.
JOB BRIEF
- Provide advisory support to the planning, coordination, and execution of Political Transition project priorities and objectives in Guinea.
- Co-lead the implementation of Political Transition project activities in Guinea, in coordination with the DC-based program team and under the supervision of the Program Manager.
- Provide support to and advance multistakeholder dialogue, policy engagement and engagement with thought leaders and peacebuilding organizations working in Guinea, in close coordination with the DC-based program and USIP field partners.
- Liaise with implementing partners to track activities and ensure timely implementation.
- Review all technical and financial reporting from implementing partners, provide guidance as needed, and liaise with the DC-based Program Manager, to ensure timely submission of all required materials.
- Mentor, coach, and provide capacity building to implementing partners, in close consultation with the DC-based Program Manager.
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of operational meetings, dialogues, workshops, in-country trainings and other activities as needed.
- Support work-planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning of USIP in-country (Guinea), including by collecting data and occasional empirical research that can feed into overall program evaluation or publications, in coordination with the DC Political Transitions project team.
- Contribute to highlighting USIP’s work in Guinea as part of meetings, briefings, and events in country, region, and Washington DC where applicable.
- Support the Political Transitions project team in the development of reports to the project funder, policy guidance, or political analysis as needed.
- Cultivate relationships in Guinea and identify potential new partners as needed.
- Provide bi-weekly progress report (every 2 weeks) via email on Guinea to the Political Transitions project team as well as other updates, as needed.
- Participate in biweekly calls with Political Transitions project team and other Africa Center colleagues where relevant.
- Support the Political Transition project team in the development of reports to the project funder, policy guidance, or political analysis as needed.
- Supervise Guinea-based support staff.
- Be available to travel within Guinea, in the region, or internationally as needed.
Standing Consultative Mechanism (SCM)
- Facilitate the establishment and operationalization of a standing consultative mechanism (SCM) in Guinea, in coordination with the DC-based program team and under the supervision of the Program Manager.
- Collaborate with the DC-based program team to design the SCM through the development of a work plan and Terms of Reference.
- Assist in the identification and recruitment of SCM participants.
- Organize a series of SCM convenings and oversee logistical arrangements.
- Guide and moderate the SCM’s discussions and ensure the production of a 5-10-page narrative report following each convening.
Perform other duties as assigned.
