Pay Range
$33.48 - $51.33 Hourly
$33.48 - $40.99 Hourly for the 538.1 Level
$41.93 - $51.33 Hourly for the 538.2 Level
This is the lowest to highest salary in good faith we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. Job Description
We have an opening for a Maintenance Inventory Control Specialist. You will oversee the ordering, storing, receiving and distributing processes of an organization’s products and supplies. The main duties include controlling the flow of supplies and equipment, tracking and analyzing inventory maintenance and developing protocols for loss mitigation. This position is in the Strategic Deterrence Directorate.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
In this role you will
- Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems.
- Perform regular cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory with system records.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies.
- Assist with receiving incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders.
- Label, organize, and store inventory in designated locations.
- Ensure proper handling of materials to minimize loss or damage.
- Pick, pack, and prepare items for internal or external orders.
- Coordinate with shipping/receiving teams to ensure timely order processing.
- Enter inventory transactions accurately into the ERP system (e.g., receipts, adjustments, transfers).
- Generate and maintain inventory reports for review by management.
- Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, and operations teams to ensure supply continuity.
- Communicate inventory issues or concerns to appropriate departments.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to inventory handling and control.
- Maintain a clean and organized inventory area in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and storage efficiency.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and provide feedback on inventory procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities, at the 538.2 level
- Analyze inventory trends and usage data to forecast demand and prevent overstocking or stockouts.
- Recommend and implement inventory management improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop or refine standard operating procedures for inventory control processes.
- Oversee periodic audits, including cycle counts and full physical inventories, and lead reconciliation efforts.
- Generate detailed reports and KPIs to support procurement, finance, or operations teams.
- Serve as a liaison between inventory control, warehouse, production, and purchasing teams.
- Train, mentor, and occasionally supervise junior inventory staff or temporary workers.
- Provide feedback to improve team performance and workflow.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, quality standards, and regulatory requirements such as DOE 433.1b and ASME NQA-1.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and reports.
