Introduction to Role:
In this role, you will take ownership of designing, building, and optimizing our design framework that is critical to our platform and suite of applications from a software engineering perspective. As the design framework engineering lead in this space, you will work closely with design teams on building out the design framework, you will mentor team members across all the applications on how to use the design framework, drive design decisions from an engineering lens, and ensure best practices across the software development lifecycle. This role is ideal for a technical leader who enjoys solving complex problems and driving impactful projects in a collaborative environment.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of web application frameworks using HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Less, Typescript, and JavaScript. that is critical to our platform and suite of applications
- Create high-quality reusable components for front-end interfaces in React and Angular.
- Ability to help implement and mentor on Accessibility standards
- Collaborate with collaborators to define technical requirements, propose solutions, and align on deliverables.
- Mentor engineers of all levels, fostering technical growth and knowledge-sharing within the team to help use and build within the design framework.
- Drive architectural decisions and ensure consistency standard processeses for code quality, security, and scalability.
- Build and deploy re-usable front-end modules using NPM and assist in usability by other teams and engineers within their front ends.
- Monitor, debug, and optimize systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies, assessing their relevance and potential impact on applications.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience in front-end development with a strong lean towards user experience design.
- Bachelors in a related field, i.e.; Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Web Development/Design, etc
- Best Practice experience in HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Less, Typescript, and JavaScript for building scalable and maintainable front-end components.
- Strong expertise with existing design frameworks such as Tailwinds, Twitter Bootstrap, as reference for custom design framework creation
- Hands-on experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG as part of WAI
- Expertise with NPM for module deployment for front end components
- Familiarity with visualization tools such as D3.js
- Ability to convert Figma to well-developed HTML, CSS, and TypeScript/JavaScript components and vice versa.
