Description
The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long term care facility located in beautiful Hanson, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.

We are currently seeking a Recreation Aide to join our Activities Department. Join our team if you want to give back to those who have given so much for our Country. Make a lasting impression on our Veterans assisting them by:
  • Assist in planning and coordinating therapeutic recreational activities such as parties, games, social outings and special events.
  • Interacts with residents on a one to one basis to provide individual recreational activities.
  • Records and maintains the daily participation records of the residents activities.
The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering Independence, preserving Dignity, and providing Compassionate Care.

Working Conditions
Typically works in an institutional, hospital facility, or summer camp facility. Typically work is of a moderate physical nature and often in an outdoor setting conducting recreational activities usually with student campers, long-term care residents, hospital patients, or inmates.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
