Job Description

Located in and around Denali National Park, this position is highly visible to the many Denali National Park Visitors.  Transit Drivers are responsible for providing safe and comfortable transportation in and around Denali National Park while providing basic Denali National Park information.

About Denali National Park:​ Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture is the Denali National Park Concessionaire. Open May to September, our guests come to take in the majesty of Mount Denali, the highest point in North America. Our operation manages the transportation, retail, guest service and food and beverage concessions with our client; Park Service. The park welcomes over half a million visitors per year. By road, the area is 5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks. Buses traverse the 90-mile road daily throughout the warm summer months, allowing people to hike, view wildlife, climb, and camp. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and comfortable transportation into Denali National Park and surrounding area. Some passengers may have limited physical abilities.
  • Maintain structured pacing schedule as determined by transit schedule. 
  • Provide professional level customer service to all passengers using the service.  Training will be provided.
  • Provide basic operational and natural history information to customers as needed. 
  • Follow prescribed process and procedures as they relate to the Courtesy operation. 
  • Maintain professional appearance adherence to specific uniform and grooming standards.
  • Employee is responsible for general knowledge of corporate environmental policies and procedures and how they relate to their job functions.
  • Employee is responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position.  Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures regarding emergency and accident procedures and radio protocol
  • Performs all job duties in a safe manner by adhering to all driving regulations, company safety policies and procedures, and DOT regulations
  • Maintains a friendly, efficient, and positive demeanor towards guests, clients, and co-workers

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
1.    Must be 21 years of age.
2.    Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction.  
3.    Completed Driver Qualification File.  This includes submitting a driver record showing no moving violations in the past 3 years.  
4.    Current medical examiners certificate as required by US DOT.  
5.    Current certifications in First Aid (standard, or higher) and CPR that are valid until the end of the season.  
6.    Must participate in our drug and alcohol testing program.
7.    Demonstrated knowledge of customer service skills.
Preferred Requirements: 
1.    Educational background in a relevant biological or environmental field a plus.  
2.    Previous experience in a customer service related job a plus.  
3.    People management skills a plus.
