Job Description

As a Manager of Business Intelligence Engineering at Unite Us, you will lead the Business Intelligence platform and work with the Analytics organization to design products to highlight the impact and adoption of the Unite Us platform. Manage, Lead and mentor a team of BI developers and Engineers to drive BI solutions across the Insights and UU platform. Responsible for leading and managing the backlog and roadmap as a technical lead and Product Manager for the BI Engineering agile team. Define technical strategy, vision and delivery for the UU analytics platform working closely with the Data Analytics and Data Engineering team leads. Responsible for administering and managing UU’s business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Write-Back and the database reporting layer on databases such as AWS RedShift, Snowflake and Postgres. Responsible for maintaining the tableau infrastructure on AWS cloud and upgrading the software to enable new features and security updates. Setup Tableau as a High Availability distributed deployment on AWS using Terraform (Infrastructure as code). Automate tableau administration and workflow processes using Python and REST API. Design and develop the database reporting layer that will be sourced by Tableau dashboards. Write SQL code to build database objects and performance tune existing views and procedures. Define server performance and monitoring metrics and thresholds for Tableau dashboards. Build extensive automation solutions for redundant processes using AWS lambdas, AWS SQS, Airflow etc. Perform quarterly health checks on the Tableau environment and ensure the technical designs are aligned with the reporting needs. Deploy a CI/CD pipeline using JIRA and Jenkins to trigger automated Tableau dashboard deployments. Represent the BI Engineering team in the leadership committee. Position allows for telecommuting from home from anywhere in the U.S. Minimal travel of 10% or less for ad-hoc team meetings in our NYC office. Supervises three (3) subordinates with the following titles: Software Engineer II, Senior Business Intelligence Developer, and Data Engineer I. Annual salary of $235,040.00.

Job Requirements

The qualified candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field. The qualified candidate must have at least 7 years (84 months) of progressive, post bachelor’s experience with all the following: (a) working with relational databases, cloud data warehouses, and graph databases; (b) writing SQL code, creating and tuning views, stored procedures, and functions, verifying data integrity and accuracy; (c) working with/supporting a Data Analytics teams; (d) working with/managing a Bl tool (Tableau/Looker/Qlikview/other); (c) working in data modeling and development of new data warehouse/data marts; (c) designing, building, and maintaining ETL feeds for new and existing data sources (d) working in a healthcare or social services industry; (e) running or leading robust Agile teams; (f) designing, building, and maintaining large scale systems; and (g) utilizing the following tools/technologies: JavaScript, Ruby, Golang; React or another JS framework,CSS3, HTML5, AWS, PostgreSQL, SQL, Oracle, AWSRedshift, Azure Synapse Analytics, Google Cloud, Snowflake, Neo4j; ETL tools (Informatica, DataStage, SSIS). Position allows for telecommuting from home from anywhere in the U.S. All experience may be gained concurrently.

In lieu of a bachelor’s degree as mentioned above, the employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field. The qualified candidate must have at least 5 years (60 months) of experience with all the following: (a) working with relational databases, cloud data warehouses, and graph databases; (b) writing SQL code, creating and tuning views, stored procedures, and functions, verifying data integrity and accuracy; (c) working with/supporting a Data Analytics teams; (d) working with/managing a Bl tool (Tableau/Looker/Qlikview/other); (c) working in data modeling and development of new data warehouse/data marts; (c) designing, building, and maintaining ETL feeds for new and existing data sources (d) working in a healthcare or social services industry; (e) running or leading robust Agile teams; (f) designing, building, and maintaining large scale systems; and (g) utilizing the following tools/technologies: JavaScript, Ruby, Golang; React or another JS framework,CSS3, HTML5, AWS, PostgreSQL, SQL, Oracle, AWSRedshift, Azure Synapse Analytics, Google Cloud, Snowflake, Neo4j; ETL tools (Informatica, DataStage, SSIS).
