Performance Improvement and Patient Safety - Serves as an expert resource for the Health System for Performance Improvement (PI) and Patient Safety (PS). Assists in the implementation and sustainability of a systemic PI/PS program. Assists in the design, development, and monitoring of Health System processes. Supports the management of quality and performance improvement for the organization and its Medical Staff through participation in and coordination of activities related to the acquisition, aggregation, and analysis of relevant data and its use toward improvement of clinical and work processes. Regulatory - Serves as a resource for the Health System on Joint Commission and CMS standards. Assists in overseeing constant preparedness for Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory inspections. Infection Prevention - provides assistance to the Infection Prevention and Control Director in con¬ducting the multiple functions of the Infection Prevention and Control Program. The Infection Preventionist conducts the activities of the Infection Prevention and Control department in the absence of the Director.At least 3 years experience in working with Performance Improvement, Quality Process and/or Data Analysis. Experience in working with Joint Commission and CMS standards desired. Four to five years in Medical/Surgical, Emergency or Critical Care Nursing preferred. Two years of Infection Control Nursing experience and certification in Infection Control is desirable. Certification in Healthcare Quality Management desired. ASQ certification desired within 1 year. Knowledge of PI methodologies, Joint Commission and CMS standards, and patient safety issues. Understanding of quality planning, cost of quality, and importance of documentation. Understanding of basic statistics, distributions, probability and measurement scales. Experience with the audit process to include audit types as well as audit roles and responsibilities. Experience in working with teams to include team building techniques and understanding team roles and responsibilities. Ability to collect, aggregate and review data. Experience with regression and correlation, hypothesis testing, design of experiments (DOE) desirable. Clinical nursing experience with ability to review medical records and correlate data required. The person must have a reasonable working knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infection control. The person in this position is required to publicly speak to large groups such as New Employee Orientation. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and visitors. This position requires self-direction and leadership skills.Ability to move throughout the Health System. Visual acuity for reviewing data and reports, and observing process flows. Audiological acuity for monitoring group discussions and interactions. Verbal ability is required to effectively express ideas and views to staff. There are no anticipated occupational exposures to bloodborne pathogens or body fluids.Required Licenses and Certifications
