The position is part of an ongoing research and development project at the Innovation, which aims to reduce the rising redispatch costs in the grid. The project investigates the possibility of using fast load flow solvers and optimization techniques to find topological actions.
You will have the opportunity to be part of an innovative, exciting project and make a significant contribution to further development with your ideas and suggestions.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and optimize the grid data for load flow computations
• Optimize existing grid analysis computations on massively parallel hardware.
• Work on new methods to accelerate network load flow calculations,
• Work with network data to ensure the applicability of these methods in practice,
• Optimization of existing grid analysis calculations on GPUs
• Develop and work in the topology optimizer product as a developer with electrical engineering expertise.
• Carrying out benchmarks to identify bottlenecks and for quantitative evaluation.
• (Optional) scientific publication of the knowledge gained.

Requirements

Good Electrical engineering knowledge focus load flow computations Knowledge of parallel programming patterns and massively-parallel hardware (GPUs) Strong knowledge on Python, optional: Jax Experience in one of the tools using Pandapower, Powsybl Min 5 years experience in modeling energy systems Experience with porting algorithms Strong academic background in electrical engineering BSc or MSc in Computer Science, engineering, informatics, or similar is a plus Fluent in English. Additional language skills in German, Dutch or French is a plus Good communication skills
