About the Role
Capella Space is seeking a technically skilled Facilities & Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Engineering Manager to own and optimize our production infrastructure and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. This is a high-impact role responsible for facility systems, equipment readiness, asset tracking, regulatory compliance, and operational safety in a fast-paced space system manufacturing environment.
You will lead infrastructure projects, oversee preventive maintenance, manage environmental health and safety programs, and scale systems to support rapid production growth — ensuring our facilities enable innovation, reliability, and mission success.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive long-term facility planning, capital project execution, and site readiness for future expansion.
- Lead technical planning, design, upgrades, maintenance and modifications to facility infrastructure (HVAC, power, cleanrooms, thermal vacuum chambers, compressed gases, etc.).
- Manage daily facility operations including layout optimization, BMS oversight, budgets, and vendor coordination.
- Own preventive maintenance and support capital equipment installation and commissioning.
- Develop and own asset management plan for all capital equipment.
- Ensure EH&S programs comply with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations. Conduct audits and drive incident response.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters and facility incidents.
- Develop and implement waste management programs to ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
Required:
- 8+ years in facilities engineering, manufacturing infrastructure, or operations support.
- Proven experience in facility planning, upgrades, or equipment integration projects.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems, asset management tools, and EH&S compliance.
- Strong technical and project management skills in production environments.
