About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join Boston Scientific as the Vice President of Global WATCHMAN Marketing and Atrial Fibrillation Solutions (AFS) Market Development for the global WATCHMAN Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) business within our Cardiology group. This leadership role is integral as we accelerate WATCHMAN’s growth while expanding into the AFS approach, build a strong customer experience and help more patients throughout the world with this therapy.

 

In our WATCHMAN business, we’re committed to advancing stroke prevention therapy through a one-time, minimally invasive procedure that permanently reduces stroke risk for people with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. The candidate selected for this position will have global oversight across a newly defined marketing organization that incorporates core functions including the upstream and downstream marketing strategy for WATCHMAN, the international strategy, patient and referrer strategies for AFS, working in close collaboration with the Electrophysiology (EP) Marketing team. 

 

The VP, Global WATCHMAN Marketing and AFS Market Development will be based in Maple Grove, MN.  This is a hybrid role with expectations of being on-site at least 3 days per week.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and drive core marketing functions, including upstream and downstream strategy, international expansion; strong focus on US market development.
  • Create and manage customer strategies across implanters, referrers, and patients for a unified brand experience.
  • Creating and driving the effective growth strategy by leading cross functional and physician collaboration in the areas of commercial execution, medical education and product development.
  • Develop and inspire strong collaboration and interaction with clinical and economic customers; ensure the right inputs into our portfolio, evidence and commercial plans.   
  • Leverage and strengthen patient insights to inform and develop innovative patient outreach, activation and education strategies, utilizing and inspiring innovative commercial capabilities like field marketing, DTP/DTR marketing strategies.   
  • Identify opportunities for patient activation, patient education, global market development and independently execute tactics, leveraging cross-functional teams and global regions to achieve team goals.
  • Implement innovative digital solutions by collaborating with the center of excellence functions. 
  • Cross-functional leadership with broader commercial and cardiology teams to ensure visibility and alignment of marketing strategies across the organization, especially with EP franchise on AFS-scoped teams
  • Collaborate with international and U.S. sales leadership, marketing leaders, and investor relations to execute integrated strategies for revenue and profit growth.
  • Guide innovation and resource allocation in partnership with R&D, ensuring long-term divisional goals are met.
  • Establish strong relationships with other functions impacting franchise marketing activities (Divisional Sales, Corporate Sales, HEMA, Medical Affairs, Medical Education, Clinical, Regulatory affairs, finance, operations, etc.).
  • Oversee U.S. and global pricing strategies, ensuring effective execution with sales leadership
  • Mentor and lead a diverse marketing team, driving performance management and long-term organizational planning. Attract, develop, and promote results-oriented skill sets and leadership. Foster a diverse workplace. Develop succession plans and long-range organizational plans.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of marketing experience within the medical device industry
  • Proven experience managing teams, developing high performers, and optimizing team structure for success with a focus on diversity & inclusion.
  • Extensive experience in both upstream and downstream marketing strategies, concentrating on market expansion.
