Required Degree: PhD Degree. Must have required degree by start date.

Preferred Experience:

  • The candidate must have experience teaching Rel C 100 “Introduction to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” in a university setting.
  • The candidate will demonstrate unusual potential for excellent teaching of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • This will often, but not always, be demonstrated by teaching experience in religious education in the Church Educational System.

Duties: Teach assigned classes in Church History & Doctrine (Rel C 225 100 Introduction to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). Class(es) could be day or evening.

BYU’s Department of Church History & Doctrine is dedicated to furthering the mission of Brigham Young University and BYU Religious Education to teach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ from the scriptures and modern prophets in a way that helps each student develop faith, become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ, and strengthen their ability to find answers, resolve doubts, and respond with faith.

In a cover letter, candidates should describe their qualifications for—and interest in—teaching the Introduction to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints course, including academic training, past teaching experience, and other evidence of competency and proficiency for teaching the course.
