About the role

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This Engineering Technician brings extensive hands-on production experience, having spent several years on the manufacturing floor as an operator, lead, and supervisor. This background provides a deep understanding of current process intricacies and the Management of Change (MOC) requirements necessary to implement effective improvements.

In support of the submitted Process Improvement initiative, this individual will proactively identify required procedural updates, anticipate and address potential challenges, and clearly define the Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Production benefits of the new process. Additionally, the technician will ensure that all improvements are working properly, safely, and productively, eliminating any risks and hazards.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create Process Improvement Initiative / simple project charter
  • Speak with submitter to understand the full scope of the idea
  • Define budget, stakeholders, implementation plan, and Gantt
  • Implement new ideas/projects, conduct Design of Experiments, review results, and follow-up with stakeholders to ensure the seamless implementation of the new process
  • Create Job Safety Analysis and procedures that detail the correct new process to follow
  • Conduct Design of Experiments, review results and establish the baseline before the improvement takes place
  • Review Management of Change with all stakeholders before ordering equipment
  • Create e-req/purchase order for new equipment
  • Create the Work Instructions/Standard Operating Procedure
  • Follow-up with stakeholders to ensure the seamless implementation of the new process
  • Implement Process Improvement equipment directly on the production floor, modify Standard Operating Procedures, and maintain accurate training documentation
  • Any other task as assigned TAS

JOB SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of operator workflows, decision-making logic, and performance incentives in production environments
  • Analytical mindset, logical and cautious about the improvement, mitigating the risks and enhancing the improvements to the process
  • Strong communication skills and experience leading with personnel.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • High School Diploma

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years of production floor experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel calculations, creation of forms
  • Aptitude for technical tasks like robotics programming

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of experience implementing projects
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience, including leading teams
  • AutoCAD and SolidWorks proficiency.
  • Associates degree or technical certification
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 50% of the time in the floor working with operators, leadmen and supervisors to implement projects.

  • Work performed in a shop environment.
  • Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
  • Requires normal vision and absence of blindness
  • Physical effort equal to frequent moving of up to 50lbs materials.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach.
  • The use of Safety Glasses is required.
  • The use of earplugs is recommended.
  • Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with a lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week.
  • Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
  • Steel-toe boots required in Manufacturing Facility
