Individual Giving Assistant
Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, Inc. is seeking an organized and eager individual to serve as our Individual Giving Assistant reporting to the Director of Major Gifts & Individual Giving.
Position Summary:
The Individual Giving Assistant is a dynamic, organized, and personable team player. They will work closely with colleagues to support the individual giving fundraising portfolio and goals. Successful candidates must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, and an appreciation for dance.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Provide general administrative support to the Individual Giving team and Managing Director of Development.
• Draft and send all individual donor and prospect correspondence including but not limited to special events, ticket confirmations, performance reminders, and other patron engagement opportunities in collaboration with Development Operations and Ticketing.
• Coordinate donor mailings and email communications including Advance Notice for New York City seasons.
• Draft renewal letters and invoices for Major Donors and member groups, such as the Board of Trustees and Artistic Director’s Circle.
• Maintain Individual Giving and Board of Trustees tracking documents.
• Serve as assistant staff liaison to the Development Committee and Nominating & Governance Committee of the Board with the Managing Director of Development.
• Oversee stewardship of named scholarships collaborating with Special Events, Institutional Giving, and Ailey School leadership.
• Manage the logistics of digital and direct mail appeals including vendor coordination, managing source codes, preparing email suppression lists, updating Classy donation pages, and gift tracking with Development Operations and Marketing.
• Conduct prospect research identifying Board prospects and others with major giving potential.
• Attend donor cultivation and stewardship events.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Strong writing skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Demonstrated professionalism; a highly organized problem-solver who pays close attention to detail
• Experience with Salesforce preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the internet
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed
• Candidates with a knowledge of and appreciation for dance/performing arts are preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
Start date: Immediate
Compensation:
$55,000 - $60,000 based on experience. Benefits include health (including EAP services), dental insurance, flexible spending account, 403(b) retirement plan, and commuter benefits.
