Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

 

Responsible for the supervision of staff Including appraisals, planning, and directing their work, approving leave, having the authority for hiring, and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions. Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction. Develops expectations and meets with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, and discipline action, if needed. Maintains vacation and work schedules to ensure proper coverage and completes timesheets. Ensures all staff complete required training and are offered additional training.

This position directs and manages a comprehensive County Public Health Unit's Environmental Program in Clay County. The Environmental Health Division of the County Health Department under the direction of the Environmental Health Manager functions independently with the full knowledge and support of the Public Health Officer/Administrator. The incumbent in this position formulates policies and procedures that nave significant impact in personnel staffing, preparation, and administration of the division’s budget.  The incumbent reports directly to the Assistant County Health Department Director and is responsible for related duties such as strategic planning, budget recommendations, quality assurance, disaster planning, response, and recovery activities.

 

Plan, organize and manage the County Environmental Health programs.  This position directs and evaluates the work of the staff.  The incumbent is accountable for revenue collections through State and County Environmental fees and is responsible for preparation and justification of the annual Environmental Health Budget including providing revisions/updates at least quarterly to the Business Manager. This position is responsible and accountable the performance of the environmental health, whether supervised directly or indirectly.  This Position will assure all Inspection records and supporting documents generated by Environmental health staff are complete and meet minimum standards and deadlines. All field activities require travel via County or personal vehicle.
