Job Description

AECOM is seeking a candidate for the position of Senior Bridge Engineer in the Providence, Rhode Island office. Work will consist of leading the design effort and project management for DOT bridge projects in Rhode Island and other states throughout AECOM’s Northeast Region.

Specifics of the role include:

• Lead Structural Engineer on projects including reviewing designs and plans.
• Providing specialized technical input on transportation related projects.
• Managing bridge projects including design tasks and coordinating work with engineering staff.
• Conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of new bridges utilizing pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete, structural steel and timber components.
• Inspection, assessment, and rehabilitation design of existing bridges.
• Load evaluation of existing bridges.
• Experience in preparation of technical specifications and design documents, report writing, technical engineering support, and limited inspection during construction.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or similar field and 6 years of related progressive experience designing and delivering bridge projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Engineering License
• Project management skills
• Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable Codes (AASHTO, AREMA, RIDOT, ACI, AISC, etc.).
• Knowledge of current structural modeling software tools (Midas, CSI Bridge, MDX, AASHTOWare, etc.)
• Project experience on RIDOT projects (Rhode Island Dept. of Transportation)
