Overview:

The Senior HR Generalist is the point of contact for Mitel’s US and Canada’s leaders and employees providing counsel, coaching and support on HR fundamentals, workforce analysis and operations. Working in conjunction with the HR Business Partners and the Centers of Excellence, the Senior HR Generalist will contribute to the development and delivery of HR solutions which supports Mitel’s talent needs.  This role is critical in executing responsive HR support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. This role will report to the VP of HR Americas.  

This is a temporary role for approximately 12 - 15 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated guidance and coaching to leaders and employees with specific focus on HR fundamentals, process training, employee relations and mitigation, performance management, talent acquisition, development and retention  

  • Provide advice and counsel to leaders and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices at 100% compliance to promote an ethical and compliant work environment  

  • Maintain current in-depth knowledge of standards and legislations related to day to day management of employees, reducing employment legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance 

  • Support for functional processes including on-boarding, employee relations, compensation and performance management 

  • Ensure that all employee relations issues are properly identified, researched, reported & resolved 

  • Proactive management of Mitel immigration processes and procedures, working with outside counsel and leaders/employees 

  • Drive continuous improvement within business unit for efficiency using systems, programs and processes 

  • Assist with other HR special projects or initiatives as needed  

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required, or high school diploma + equivalent experience. Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Industrial Psychology a plus. 

  • Minimum 5 years of professional work experience in a Human Resources function with hands-on experience in the employee lifecycle, training, compensation, benefits, performance management, recruiting and data analysis and analytics 

  • Excellent knowledge and experience managing immigration workflow and processes (applications, renewals, etc.)  

  • Approachable and responsive resource able to connect with employees and leaders at all levels  

  • Confident in making sound recommendations, solve problems by identifying root causes and negotiating satisfactory resolution based on practice or previous experience 

  • Comfortable with high volume workload and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment  

  • Sound knowledge of local labor laws and government requirements in US and Canada  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal, written and presentation) 

  • Strong project management, organization and time management skills 

  • Expert proficiency in Excel, (Pivot and VLOOKUP), PowerPoint, Word 

  • HRIS user proficiency; Workday experience preferred
