Billing Clerk - Consolidation Dept - 2nd Shift

Summary The billing clerk is responsible for preparing billing for freight movement by invoicing customers for shipping charges incurred in the transportation of freight. Ensure invoices are submitted accurately and on time to the correct party or department. Ensure payment for services is received. Primary Duties • Verify the accurate entry of information on the invoice including exact names and addresses, complete commodity descriptions, and special information (reference numbers, purchase order numbers, tender numbers, etc.) required by the customer so the invoice can be correctly processed and collected. • Verify that the invoice includes all applicable accessorial charges • Maintain a current and accurate procedure manual that details the processing requirements and/or rate structure for each account. • Revise invoices when billing errors occur. • Prepare, print, review, and post invoices to general ledger. • Enter invoices into customer invoicing web sites when applicable. • Submit invoices by electronic data interchange when applicable • Effectively correspond with customers regarding inquiries and/or complaints regarding invoices. Other Duties • As required and assigned • Supports GEODIS’ programs for Safety, Health, Environment, Quality , Ethics, Compliance, CSR and Sustainability Minimum Requirements Experience • Minimum 2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience February 17, 2025 Page 2 of 2 • PC proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Essential Skills • Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customers • Excellent planning and organizational skills • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
