About the role

Nemours is seeking an RRT/PFT to join a great team in Orlando, FL! This position is responsible for: Performing all aspects of pulmonary function and related testing. Demonstrates knowledge of pulmonary anatomy, physiology and pathology. 

Schedule: 8:00 - 4:30p Monday - Friday 

Responsibilities: 

1.  Performs routine and specialty pulmonary function testing, stress testing, and metabolic assessment testing.

2. Performs complete and accurate patient assessment or reassessment.

  • Provides education to the patient and /or patient/guardian in a manner that the recipient understands in order to contribute to positive patient care outcome and patient satisfaction. 

 3.  Performs quality controls and ensures preventative maintenance is completed on diagnostic equipment. 

4. Maintains and orders supplies necessary for pulmonary function lab.

5. Assist with patient flow of clinic.

  1. Obtain vital signs.
  2. Captures and enters patient information into EMR.
  3. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens.
  4. Handles all telephone calls in a courteous and timely manner with documentation of call in EMR.

6. Ensure provider’s orders are carried out:

  1. Under the direction of the provider schedules diagnostic test to include pre-authorization and notification of patient for pulmonary testing.
  2. Perform testing according to protocols related to diagnosis.
  3. Operate and maintain ultraviolet light according to policy to turn over rooms when needed. 

7. Ensures medications are safely stored in an appropriate area as designated by law, and that medication expiration 

dates are evaluated on a monthly schedule

a. Familiar with pharmacokinetics, contraindications, side effects, mode of administration of all medications

provider prescribes.

b.     Oversees ordering of emergency supplies and medications for crash carts with removal and replacement           

                      of expired items. 

 8.  Ensures accurate ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes are recorded.

9.  Support patients durable medical equipment needs:

                a. Draft, initiate and follow durable medical equipment orders for new and existing patients. 

                b. Trouble shoot respiratory equipment and insurance issues.

                c. Perform ventilator checks with carbon dioxide measurement.

                d. Respond to equipment issues for patients at ambulatory appointments

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree required
  • Certified as Registered Respiratory Therapist  by the National Board of Respiratory Care. 
  • Current licensure in Florida as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS required
