So, what’s the role?
We are seeking a dynamic and resourceful Head of Communications and PR to lead our external communications strategy and establish Kin as a tech forward disruptor brand in the home insurance market. You will be directly responsible for driving our content strategy targeted towards customer and investor audiences to significantly increase our share of earned media.
Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, you will work closely with the Founder-CEO and other members of the executive team in executing end-to-end strategic communications while managing a small team. The goal is to position Kin as a thought leader among journalists and media outlets on topics at the intersection of climate change and home insurance by leveraging our points of differentiation.
A day in the life could include…
Partnering with the Founder-CEO and other members of the management team as the strategist and storyteller for Kin
Developing and implementing a comprehensive external communications strategy, including PR, aligned with Kin’s strategy and business objectives
Leveraging Kin's unique differentiators and data-driven insights to secure earned media opportunities
Cultivating and maintaining relationships with a broad range of industry journalists, members of the trade press, and industry analysts
Developing key performance indicators to measure the success of communications efforts, media coverage, and adjust strategies to ensure impactful results
Managing a team of five across customer communications, SEO, content, and social media
Managing communications budget--optimizing value and results from agency relationships and the internal team by setting ambitious KPIs
Ensuring the SEO team guides blog content creation and prioritizes opportunities with the biggest SEO impact
Driving Kin’s presence on social media and other digital platforms to inspire trust among current and prospective customers
Staying informed on industry trends, press coverage and competitor activities to shape Kin’s communications agenda
Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including Legal, Finance, and Product, on content development
I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?
10+ years of experience in communications - including public relations and executive communications in the tech industry. Preferably in Fintech or InsureTech or adjacent regulated industry verticals
Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop communications agenda in alignment with company strategy and objectives
Intellectually curious and a quick learner, with a demonstrated track record of quickly building domain expertise and credibility
Data savvy, expertise in analyzing PR and earned media metrics with a demonstrable track record of leveraging data in content creation.
Digital native: In-depth understanding of digital and social media trends and tools, with experience integrating them into PR strategies.
Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to write about complex topics in a simple, easy to understand way.
A resourceful player-coach with the ability to deliver high impact while developing team and capabilities; Minimum of 5 years in people management.
