Vacancy detail

Task requirements  

Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for a OF3 to serve as SO2 Futures at Defence Support/Abbeywood/Bristol on FTRS (FC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of Nov 24.

Unit Role:  To guide and shape the coherent development of Defence Support out to a 30-year horizon, through the development of Concepts, Strategy, Doctrine and Policy Direction. 

Position Role:  To provide Support input into the Strategic Force Development (SFD) process and cohere the logistic development activities of the FLCs. 

Responsibilities: 

1. In line with FinMilCap SFD cycle, cohere and deliver Spt Force Development (FD) input.

2. Participate in SFD activity including PFT, Wargaming, TTX and other planning serials. 

3. Review Future Force Development outputs for Spt implications.

4. Desk level lead on all Land Environment SFD related work and advice.

5. Where required, assist with Support Strategic Capability Requirements through the periodic review of existing requirements and the instigation of new requirements.

6. Maintain the currency and accuracy of the strategic logistic data sets and assumptions available from FMC, StratCom, the FLCs and DE&S to assure the veracity of OA output.

7. Enhance force testing by growing modelling and data utilisation capacity, via tools such as the Defence Logistic Information Portal (DLIP).

Professional Effectiveness    Ideally has a broad understanding of the Joint Support Chain, Defence Operating Model and FMC processes and is able to think strategically.  

Effective Intelligence    Must be comfortable working with concepts and able to distil large amounts of information into that which is relevant. There will be opportunities for innovation.

 Powers of Communication    Must be confident, persuasive and articulate in discussion. Will often be required to brief  senior military officers and civilian staff 
 Initiative    Lots of scope to generate own areas for analysis and improvement and to formulate the associated work plan.

Essential competencies  

Must be an OF3 of Any specialisation. OF2 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR may be considered.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Desirable competencies  

DLSC - Can be undertaken in post

Logistics - Supply Chain Management/Physical Supply Chain experience.
