**This position can be filled as an Environmental Analyst I, II, III, or Senior depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.**
This postion will be located at Ninemile Point in Westwego, LA.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Maintains environmental compliance at Power Generation facilities through active onsite support and presence. The position requires excellent communications and writing skills, project management skills, a broad knowledge of air permitting process, the ability and willingness to quickly acquire a broad-based knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, familiarity with the rulemaking process, flexibility for day/overnight travel as required to complete assigned duties, and proven leadership and teamwork skills. General knowledge of multimedia permitting requirements required for building new power generation units is not required, but is a plus.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The central responsibility of this position will be management of air programs that support fossil-fired and renewable plants and capital project permitting. Job components include:
- Work in successful partnership with plants to assist in ensuring regulatory compliance and to develop action plans to close gaps.
- Track federal and state environmental regulatory developments affecting electric utility generators and effectively develop and communicate actions plans for compliance with new or pending regulations. This includes analyzing proposed and newly-adopted environmental laws, regulations and policies and explaining these developments.
- Communicating issues by presentations and writing and distributing concise, timely and accurate summaries, reviewing routine reports for facility staff and negotiating with state/federal agencies on the Company’s behalf to arrive at a favorable solution.
- Assesses and communicates best practices throughout the Power Generation Organization.
- Actively supports Power Generation environmental initiatives.
- Provide adequate availability to plant personnel to maintain communication and familiarization with plant processes.
- Excellent people skills required to maintain good relationship with key customers.
- Ability to influence change and to handle multiple issues and projects simultaneously.
- Represent the Company in the state environmental rulemaking process by participating in work groups and drafting written comment letters, as appropriate.
- Work closely with plants, consultants, Environmental Services Air Lead to ensure all permits and plans are maintained as needed to ensure compliance.
- Manage consultants and contracts as required.
- Ability to interface and work with internal business groups outside of environmental.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required of the position:
- B.S. Degree in environmental studies, engineering, or a science-related field, or equivalent work experience
Minimum experience required of the position:
- Analyst I-II: 0-2 years’ experience handling environmental compliance activities
- Analyst III: 3-5 years’ experience handling environmental compliance activities
- Analyst Sr: 5+ years’ experience handling environmental compliance activities
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work tasks simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Strong attention to details
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Self-starter and requires little or no supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products

- Willing and able to perform other unrelated duties as required and learn new processes and technologies
- Knowledge of power generation fundamentals a plus
