Virginia Health Services is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant at York Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a Long Term Care and Rehab Center located in Yorktown, VA!

The Certified Medical Assistant has the following responsibilities:

• Promoting and demonstrating exceptional customer service, including greeting residents and visitors.
• Scheduling and managing patient appointments and transportation.
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment while complying with facility policy, regulations and current infection control practices.
• Effectively communicating with providers and their staff, insurance companies, and families related to non-nursing matters.
• Assisting in preparing, organizing and filing documents in medical charts, both paper and electronic format. (ex. Lab results, admissions, discharge, and transportation related documents)
• Organizing and maintaining medical supplied on the nursing units, cleaning and disinfecting medical equipment.
• Understanding and assisting with staffing procedures.
• Answering and directing phone calls.
• Carrying out clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs or glucometer checks.
• Appropriately documenting in resident's medical records.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent degree is required.
• Medical Assistant certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Healthcare facility experience is preferred.
• Basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office.
