RAND seeks a highly motivated individual who has demonstrated excellent academic performance in challenging undergraduate programs for the position of Research Project Specialist (RPS). The successful candidate will work in RAND Health, supporting specific RAND Health projects.

This is a term position with an end date of September 2025, with the possibility of renewal.

Duties

The RPS will work in a multi-disciplinary, geographically distributed team to provide research and project support on tasks, which may include literature reviews, writing, preparation of draft documents and presentations, and coordination of work among project team members. Other duties will include:

  • Track deliverables throughout the QA/Publications process.

  • Collaborate with internal partners including Information Services and Contract Administrators to ensure project tasks move forward smoothly.

  • Handle multiple tasks within time constraints.

  • Proofread, edit, and format documents for internal and external use, including peer-reviewed journal articles.

  • Track project tasks and promote process improvement.

Qualifications

Applicants should have excellent research administration skills and knowledge of the U.S. health care system as demonstrated through coursework or prior work experience, and must be highly motivated, organized, flexible, and demonstrate a strong commitment to RAND's core values of quality and objectivity. Key qualifications include:

  • Content knowledge in healthcare, health equity, public health, and Medicare

  • fluency with Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Excel;

  • the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing;

  • strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a remote member of multi- disciplinary teams.

  • Project experience with government contracts

  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.

Education

BA/BS degree required. Preferred degrees are in fields such as anthropology, public health, or other topics in the social sciences.

Salary Range

Research Project Specialist I $45,900- $66,300

Research Project Specialist II $55,900- $83,200

This position is overtime eligible. Successful candidates will be offered employment in a specific title, as determined by the candidate's education and experience.
