Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Database Engineer to join our team in Laurel, MD. The position is part of a team that provides software development, configuration management, and system administration for a legacy platform.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining the integrity, security, and availability of databases

  • Provide support for disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, and monitoring of data

  • Administering, maintaining, developing, and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database

  • Evaluating and recommending available database management system (DBMS) products

  • Performing database and software life-cycle activities ensuring highest level of system performance and availability and compliance with business requirements

  • Performing PostgreSQL database and application server administration

  • Organizing and formatting data for efficient query and storage processes

  • Communicating with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience or 15 years of total experience

  • Experience with:

  • Supports the database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis activities 

  • Supports the development of long and short term requirements for database administration and design (U) Supports the analysis and evaluation of system improvements, optimization, development and/or maintenance efforts 

  • Translates a set of requirements and data into a usable database schema by creating or recreating adhoc queries, scripts and macros, updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file 

  • Assists in developing databases, database parser software, and database loading software 

  • Assists in developing database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, and SQLPlus

  • Experience in upgrading and migrating databases

  • Experience with tuning database performance

  • Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence)

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Current and active TS/SCI with polygraph based upon a SSBI

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
