POSITION TITLE: Wire EDM Programmer/Operator I, II, III Monday to Saturday (Overnights 10pm-6:30am)
LOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY
HOURLY PAY RANGE: $22.40 - $30.90hr
Evening Shift Differential an additional $3.00 per hour
SHIFT HOURS: Monday to Saturday (Overnights 10pm-6:30am)
JOB SUMMARY: The Wire EDM Programmer/Operator programs, sets up, and operates wire EDM machines along with a variety of other machine tools. Working from part prints, process sheets, quality documentation, and CAD models to produce precision components to print. The Wire EDM Programmer/Operator promotes a work environment that is positive, safe, seeks to continuously improve, and is focused on meeting the goals and objectives of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Level I
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Read and understand part drawings and basic GD&T.
- Set-up, run, and troubleshoot production parts.
- Monitor parts throughout production by visual observation and dimensional measurement to ensure parts meet the specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment.
- Work with other departments on projects, designs, and process improvements.
Level II
- Program, set-up, and operate wire EDM machines (primarily Fanuc controls).
- Program and troubleshoot complex tool paths using CAM-I.
- Troubleshoot and make offset adjustments.
- Perform and document preventative maintenance on lower heads of machine, wire chopper, and clean seal plates.
- Set-up and run Hole Popper.
Level III
- Make custom parts for prototypes.
- Perform set-up, run and make required machine adjustments independently.
- Write and edit complex EDM programs without supervision.
- Work closely with Discovery and Engineering during Prototyping, Engineering Evaluation, V&V, and PQ/PV.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Level I
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of trade school preferred.
- 0-2 years of machine operation experience.
Level II
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of trade school preferred.
- 3-5 years’ minimum experience programming wire EDM’s.
Level III
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of trade school preferred.
- 6+ years’ minimum experience programming, setting-up, and operating wire EDM’s.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Level I
- Basic shop math skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
- Able to run variety of shop equipment.
- Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment.
- Basic understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Level II
- Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals.
- Strong understanding of GD&T.
