Roles and Responsibilities:
Job Summary/Overview:
UPW-IWT Project Design Engineer is responsible for planning, design, and permitting of Ultra-Pure water and Industrial Water Treatment systems for the Samsung internal, capital projects department. This role is accountable for design scope development, vendor selection, change control review, and engineering design. This role will require collaboration with large, multi-disciplinary internal and external teams to develop detailed engineering design package.
Specific Job Duties:
- Develop, review, and approve SAS site master applications specifications related to UPW-IWT piping and equipment, which may include, but not limited to: RO (reverse osmosis) skids, ion-exchangers, polishers, chemical injection tanks, lift stations, control panels and transfer tanks/pumps.
- Evaluate industrial wastewater (AWW, AkWW, CuWW, etc) segregation based on chemical compatibility and treatment capability, and assess suitable material of construction for all components of the wastewater system (transfer tanks, pumps/lift stations, and piping).
- Update system design and standards documentation for safe operations and maintenance based on prior system designs, lessons learnt, and approved new technologies and innovations.
- Provide technical guidance to contracted design teams, review IFR design packages, and continuously give feedback to design team during 30/60/90 page-turns.
- Balance code compliance, safety, and quality within project constraints such as cost and schedule.
- Collaborate with other design team disciplines to ensure UPW-IWT equipment’s facilities/utilities (room, pad, power, communications, exhaust, process air, etc.) are being integrated with overall design package.
- Collaborate with internal O&M (operations and maintenance), EHS (environmental, health, and safety), and construction teams to proactively identify/manage/ mitigate project risk points for code compliance, safety, quality, and constructability.
- Process leadership skills required to interface with large groups of stakeholders across SAS Facilities, Manufacturing, and Engineering organizations and to interface with design consultants to meet the aggressive goals and timelines during all aspects of the project.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of UPW/IWT design and project experience focused on systems in an industrial setting. Semiconductor Facilities experience or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of direct and/or indirect process engineering design experience in an industrial setting. Semiconductor Facilities experience or related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools:
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs, piping plans, shop drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Familiarity with design and installation of facility equipment, or design and construction of industrial buildings.
