Project Overview:

This position is a full-time role located in the Richland, Washington project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

 

Position Summary:

Responsible for assigned activities within the WTP Nuclear Safety Engineering Department, including supervising the development of accident analysis and criticality safety calculations. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of nuclear principles and practices to project engineering. Supervises and provides technical direction to subordinate engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters as assigned. Collaborates with other engineering disciplines and organizations and makes decisions independently concerning problems within the nuclear discipline on the project. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.

 

Responsibilities:

• Planning and supervision of safety basis document planning, safety basis document development and maintenance, calculation development, design document reviews, and other facility nuclear safety activities for HLW and associated facilities.
• Planning and supervision of safety basis procedure development and implementation for the HLW and DFLAW facilities.
• Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews work within the nuclear discipline on a project.
• Supervises the day-to-day technical work of nuclear discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
• Conducts annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.
• When assigned, recommends personnel actions such as staff additions, terminations, transfers and salary changes.
• Prepares or oversees the preparation of nuclear discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
• Estimates nuclear staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
