The Legal Department provides core legal support to all Dolby functions, runs several IP-centric businesses, and leads government relations.

 

The Strategic Business Operations Team (SBO) at Dolby is looking for a Summer Intern to work in an impactful, collaborative work environment. The intern will help drive business initiatives critical to the ongoing growth of the team and be responsible for developing a deep understanding of Dolby business model and internal processes. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Assist in the development of long-term revenue forecasts and analysis  

• Lead the development of forecasting models based on market trends, existing licensee sales and new licensee acquisitions 

• Support patent licensing executives by providing relevant analysis and financial information on prospective licensees 

• Process diverse sets of information to provide summary-level insights and recommendations 

• Improve the quality and consistency of data and data management 

• Help identify opportunities for systems and processes for efficiency, effectiveness, and automation 

• Problem solving and providing business insights and recommendations 

• Prepare economic analysis in support of Dolby’s patent pool engagements by providing analysis of royalty rate and pool structure proposals. 

• Develop patent valuation analysis supporting IP business development efforts 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Experience with Microsoft Office suite 

• Exceptional financial modeling and analysis skills 

• Strong data analysis and finance experience 

• Interest in learning new software applications 

• Excellent communication skills 

• Ability to ownership over projects and work independently 

 

ELIGIBILITY 

Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Management, or a related field; recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday – Friday for 3 months between September 2025 – December 2025.  

Start date for the internship is as follows: (note this date is not flexible)

The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $32-44/hr and can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
