Senior Product Manager, Data Platform

The Impact You’ll Make

You will help manage the development of the world’s leading tech-enabled drug discovery platform. You will work with peers across the company to grow Recursion’s capabilities in large-scale biological data generation. In particular, you will:

• Enable your teams for scale - The data lake and object storage teams are working to streamline access to more than 20 PB of high dimensional biological data in order to accelerate the process of drug discovery.
• Build experiences and platforms that unlock the power of data to decode biology.
• Guide strategy for existing products while also identifying future opportunities.
• Multiply a cross-disciplinary team of data scientists, pharmacologists, and engineers.
• Plan and coordinate delivery of complex, high-impact initiatives.

 

The Team You’ll Join

You will be the Product Manager for the two teams forming the Data Platform at Recursion: the Data Lake and Object Storage Platform teams. The data lake team launched our data lake/house in the summer of 2022 and has a goal to make it the source for all non-operational analysis in 2023. This involves creating a curated, discoverable, queryable, and actionable hub for a broad range of customers from data scientists to analysts to biologists and everyone in between across the business. The Object Storage Platform team is evolving how we handle non-relational data at Recursion. 

Recursion’s Product team translates company-level strategy into specific internal development initiatives and capabilities. We decide what to build and articulate the why, while supporting builders to own the how. We focus our decisions and are held accountable for impact over the longer-term (months to years). Join us to guide the development of the industry’s first truly industrialized drug discovery engine.

 

The Experience You’ll Need

• Experience with modern data technologies and ETL concepts.  
• 3+ years experience in software product management, including strategy, planning, prioritizing, building, implementation, and gathering feedback for complex team efforts.
• Experience building and working with platforms, including feature prioritization, contribution models, and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrated success in translating strategy and vision into solutions with a delivery mindset.
• Understand how to translate between customer needs from data scientists, ML scientists, biologists, and chemists. Bonus: Experience working with tools like dbt, Tableau, Looker, or Dash.
• Lifelong learner with a creative, collaborative approach.
• Biology or chemistry background is not necessary, but intellectual curiosity is a must!
