The Headlines: 

 

In the role of Senior Specialist working in Elkton, VA, you will be a part of the Operations team. You will be responsible for coordinating and executing plans to ensure high quality products are produced safely and cost effective while maximizing efficiency. You will coordinate within the unit and collaborate with upstream and downstream processes to drive efficiency and alignment across the brewery. This position will be assisting other team members in resolving and prioritization of production and maintenance conflicts as well as reactions to process quality deviations. 

 

This position reports to the Unit Manager-Brewing and works closely with the Brewing Team.

 

The Responsibilities:

 

  • Be assigned to but not limited to one of the following process areas.  Conditioning, Brew House or Fermentation.
  • Assures customer satisfaction through identifying, as an individual and as a team member of the process area, the internal and external customers; jointly determine customer needs and means of measurement to deliver mutually agreed upon product. 
  • Continually investigates methods to improve the process and customer satisfaction to achieve the ultimate goal of quality products, I in the safest most productive Brewery in the world. 
  • Develop a high level understanding of the beer making process.
  • Work overtime as needed, and to take additional training classes as required. 
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of computerized control systems, Delta V and PLC
  • Operating and troubleshooting
  • Maintain documents and inputs to the computer including all data pertaining to their assigned process area.
  • Performs housekeeping as required to maintain a safe and clean work place.
  • Communicate with team and supervise all matters pertaining to the overall operation and function of equipment in the process area.
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with maintenance and other specialists as required.
  • Performs all duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of various equipment in their area, including, but not limited to ammonia chillers, filtration process, centrifuge, and heat exchangers.
  • Investigation and documentation of needed process changes affecting the operation procedures.
  • Monitors delivery/pick up and process schedules, and makes adjustments with affected process areas if needed.
  • Responsible for and dedicated to person and team safety in relation to completion of tasks and duties.
  • Autonomous in 90+% of collection, testing and analysis of required quality sampling.
  • Sensory analysis of raw materials and in process product.
  • Autonomous maintenance of lab equipment, valves, motors, pumps, filters, and mechanical malt handling equipment.
  • Adherence to published schedules and knowledge/expertise to make solid business decisions in modification of schedule as required.
  • Analyze and interpret shift data from quality results and PI historian with a bias for action.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of all elements of WCSC 2.0.
  • Understand the up and down stream processes, including utilities and waste water treatment, and implications to own area of responsibility.
  • Decision making skills, with the ability to excel as an individual leader within a process area while contributing to shift, area, department, and plant team goals.

 

The Other Qualifications:

 

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 2+ years in a brewing operation
  • Strong knowledge of World Class Supply Chain 2.0
  • High level of mechanical aptitude/ability on all equipment/processes in your area
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant department applications
  • High attention to details with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Proficient/Intermediate in communication (written and verbal)
  • Strong Business Acumen
