Role Overview
The Regional Safety Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our operations across multiple locations. This position implements safety programs, conducts audits, and provides hands-on training to foster a safe and compliant work environment. Key metrics, including incident rate reductions, compliance audit scores, and employee engagement in safety initiatives, will measure success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, industry best practices, and company policies. Monitor and ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to environmental health and safety within the region.
- Travel: Visit sites within the region regularly to provide hands-on support and ensure consistent application of safety standards.
- Conducts frequent and regular job site inspections and audits focusing on recognizable hazards, unsafe work practices, and corrective actions or procedures to be implemented to correct deficiencies.
- Assess work sites and job tasks to identify potential safety hazards and implement effective control measures.
- Identify, analyze, and evaluate risks related to incidents, equipment, and near misses.
- Partner with supervisors, managers, and employees to build a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to safety practices.
- Facilitates cultural change to drive Company safety performance.
- Promote and reinforce a culture valuing the safety of all associates in partnership with facility managers and supervisors.
- Leads the Safety Leadership Team meetings in the region.
- Mentor and coach regional management toward achieving an injury-free culture.
- Track and analyze safety metrics, including incident reports, near misses, and audit findings.
- Prepare detailed reports for the Corporate Safety Manager and regulatory compliance purposes.
- Working with the Corporate Safety Manager to implement platform-wide initiatives.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or required.
- GED or High School diploma required. A Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
- Regional travel is necessary, with an estimated travel requirement of approximately 50-70%.
- Certified as OSHA 30-Hour, CSP, ASP, CHST, or equivalent preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a safety-related role, industrial, fabrication, or distribution industries.
- Computer literate; Proficient with MS Office 365.
- Must have advanced knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910 standards and other recognized safety regulations and standards such as ANSI, NFPA, U.S. DOT, etc.
- Knowledge of risk assessment processes, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
- Experience with Incident Reporting, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective Actions.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal forms.
- Thrives in a collaborative team environment.
- Detail-oriented work style comfortable with managing multiple priorities.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to pass a background check, MVR check, and drug test.
