We need a data expert like you to bring your expertise to help catalog data for a cutting-edge airframe program. 

 

Are you passionate about transforming complex data sets into valuable insights? Booz Allen is seeking a talented Metadata Engineer who can play a vital role in establishing and managing our Enterprise Metadata management platform. As a Metadata Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in Data Catalog tools, including Alation, and Data Governance Use cases to develop a robust Metadata Management platform that supports our cutting-edge airframe program. 

Your role will involve setting up metadata standards, designing metadata architecture, and collaborating with Data Analysts across our broader Data team. You will have the opportunity to champion the use of the platform across various stakeholders, including Data Scientists, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Data and Production Support Engineers. How You’ll Contribute: 
As a metadata analyst on our team, you’ll: 

  • Leverage experience working in Alation or other data catalog tool. 

  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure metadata is clearly documented and maintained within the tool. 

  • Design metadata architectures aligned with organizational goals.

  • Develop a process to sustain metadata standards and ensure quality of metadata. 

  • Research and apply data best practices to offer guidance to stakeholders by identifying areas for data lifecycle improvement and potential solutions. 

  • Build documentation to help with usability and guide stakeholders in the effective use of Alation. 

  • Establish performance measurements related to metadata management. 

  • Integrate with Enterprise applications and Data Management tools.

  • Mentor Data Analysts and conduct cross-functional workshops for Data Catalog adoption.  

  • Develop APIs to enable integration between the data catalog tool and various data sources.

You Have:  

  • 2+ years of experience with implementing and rolling out a data catalog 

  • Experience documenting business and technical metadata, along with lineage of the data 

  • Experience building end user documentation to help with new system adoption 

  • Experience connecting a data catalog to data sources to extract technical metadata 

  • Experience establishing performance metrics and automating quality assurance of metadata

  • Public Trust

  • Bachelor's degree 

 

Nice If You Have:  

  • Experience with Alation preferred 

  • Experience with multiple data catalogs

  • Knowledge of data management best practices, specifically those published by the Data Management Association (DAMA) or Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) 

  • Data Management or Azure Cloud Certification
