The Opportunity
Marymount is seeking an experienced Vice President for Finance & Operations (VPFO) and Treasurer, who is a proactive leader with an innovative focus, and able to positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance, operations and university initiatives. The VPFO reports directly to the President; will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and Board of Trustees committees; and provide leadership for financial affairs, human resources, facilities, public safety, transportation, auxiliary and dining services. Direct reports to the VPFO include: Associate Vice President, Finance; Associate Vice President, Human Resources; Associate Vice President, Facilities, Planning and Operations; Assistant Vice President, Culinary and Retail Operations, and an Executive Assistant.

The Vice President for Finance & Operations and Treasurer will play a key role in assessing and enhancing existing revenue streams, and identify and develop new streams of revenue for Marymount. In addition, focus on stabilizing the finances through debt management, and by collaborating with fellow senior leaders regarding student recruitment, retention, fund raising, external partnership, revenue generation, and innovative programming.
The VPFO will:
• Oversee treasury, budgeting, audit, investments, accounting, purchasing, real estate and insurance activities for the organization
• Provide oversight in maintaining procedures and systems necessary to afford adequate accounting controls and services
• Work with the Board of Trustees Investment Committee to ensure appropriate investment of the University’s financial assets
• Appraise the organization’s financial position and issue regular accurate financial and operating reports
• Oversee the operation of the University’s facilities and auxiliary services, and human resources function
• Collaborate with enrollment management to ensure best practices in generating strong net-tuition revenue and effectively leveraging financial aid
• Collaborate the Office of Sponsored Programs to ensure the use and best practices in generating and managing federal, state, and private foundation grants
• Identify and capitalize on nontraditional approaches to financing that are built on partnerships, e.g., Public Private Partnerships (PPP)
• Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and the Board of Trustees, Finance, Audit and Development committees
Qualifications/Competencies/Skills
Minimum of a Master’s degree or MBA from an accredited institution, along with at least 7 years senior level negotiating, finance and operations experience. Non-profit experience preferred. Skills necessary for success include: strength in fund accounting, debt structuring, contract management internal controls, project management, financial forecasting/planning, financial analysis, change management, negotiations, and operating efficiencies.
• A strong track record of success in financial administration. Extensive experience in and knowledge of financial management practices. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) preferred. (Marymount uses Workday)
• Current and knowledgeable on changing and emerging trends in higher education and finances, including financial aid
