Responsibilities

Regional VP, Designated Institutional Official (DIO), is responsible for maintaining the educational quality, financial viability, administrative/academic structure, accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements for graduate medical education (GME). The position functions as a liaison between the ACGME and the residents/fellows, teaching faculty, GME Office, departments/caregivers internal to the hospital, and institutions serving as outside teaching sites for residents and fellows. The DIO should also be knowledgeable about health care compliance and regulatory requirements, and demonstrate abilities in areas of financial analysis, strategic planning, decision making, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. Responsible for developing, establishing, and overseeing all residency programs in assigned market, to ensure clinical excellence, fulfillment of all accreditation standards as well as operational and financial goals. Responsible for developing clinical programs to support residency and medical education goals and may collaborate with CUSM to forward medical education goals.  Will also contribute to Prime’s overall vision and strategy for medical education across all residency programs.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

Required qualifications:

 

1.    Master’s degree in Business, Education, Health Care, or equivalent experience required.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

1.    Five (5) years of experience in Graduate Medical Education, and two or more years of hospital and leadership experience strongly preferred. 

2.    Knowledge of the ACGME institutional responsibilities such as the Annual Institutional Review (AIR), CLER activities, institutional self-studies, and residency program evaluation and data management collection.

3.    Must possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written skills, proven leadership abilities, and computer skills with programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Power Point. 

4.    Must be able to work collaboratively with executive/physician leadership, program coordinators, hospital personnel, and institutions of higher learning to develop/maintain collegial relationships and teamwork.

5.    Experience with electronic residency management systems such as New Innovations is preferred.
